Squidward tries to teach everyone how to play their instruments by having them repeat his clarinet tune. Patrick tries to ask about mayo and horseradish with this immortal line: Plankton’s instruments of torture do not count. However, it turns out that no one has ever played an instrument. I’m guessing that free refreshments were only there just so Squidward could get some band members. ![]() Squidward decides to recruit members by posting up fliers all about it.Įveryone in town shows up mostly for the free refreshments. Since he doesn’t want Squilliam to view him as just a loser cashier, Squidward decides to try and drum up a marching band while simultaneously making some band puns throughout the episode. I mean why would he call someone he hasn’t seen in years just so he can tell him about his band playing for the Bubble Bowl? ![]() He’s probably using this to humiliate Squidward just because he can. ![]() I get the feeling that Squilliam doesn’t really have a band. Squidward lies and claims that he does have a band that just so happens to be really awesome and decides to take up Squilliam’s offer to play for the Bubble Bowl. Squilliam claims that his band can’t make it to their Bubble Bowl gig and jokingly asks Squidward if he even has a band that can play at the Bubble Bowl gig. Squilliam uses this phone call to basically rub in how better he’s better than him and that he and his band are even going to play in the famous Bubble Bowl in a week. Dang, Squilliam is like Squidward but much more successful but even more of a jerk. Squidward eventually gets a call from an old rival, Squilliam who has basically everything Squidward wants: fame, fortune, and no annoying neighbors. Dang, Squidward’s clarinet skills just seem to get worse and worse with each episode. Wouldn't surprise me.The episode starts off with Squidward playing his mediocre clarinet music with the doctors passing by even mistaking it as a dying animal. I mean, hell, maybe Nickelodeon already banned 'Band Geeks' and are hoping we don't notice. My evidence is that it was revealed earlier this year that Nickelodeon secretly banned another episode way back in 2018 and thought no one would notice. In summary, Nickelodeon will ban 'Band Geeks' due to it predicting 9/11 since their 20th anniversaries will gain a lot of attention. This odd episode ban was what inspired this MMW. Why did Nickelodeon wait nearly 20 years to ban that episode? I genuinely have no idea. Nickelodeon actually banned it way back in 2018 without saying a word and hoped no one would notice. Earlier this year, the iconic season 3 episode 'Mid-Life Crustacean' was revealed to have weirdly been banned because of the panty raid portion of the episode. "OP, that still doesn't answer why they would ban an episode from 20 fucking years ago". And obviously, both events will gain a lot of attention. Well, both the episode and 9/11 will have their 20th anniversaries this month. Now, you're thinking "Uh, why would they ban it?". But understandably if this episode premiered after 9/11 then it would've definitely been a deleted scene. How does this correlate? Well, there's a certain scene within the episode where two flag twirlers crash into an aircraft and cause an explosion. The episode 'Band Geeks' first premiered September 7, 2001, four days before the horrific events of 9/11. It is regarded by the fandom as one of, if not the, best episode of the series. For those unfamiliar or need a memory refresh, 'Band Geeks' is an episode from season 3 of SpongeBob SquarePants.
